The Ghosts Who Walks

Posted on Tue Mar 3rd, 2020 @ 1:34am by Lieutenant Commander Gabriel Yamaguchi & Post Captain Plataea "Phantom" Lasky & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval

Mission: Mission 51: Warchild
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1300Hrs - November 22nd. 2391

Commander Plataea Unal slowly lifted the glass of clear liquid to her lips as she was enjoying a long lunch. She was not used to working with people who seemed happy to be here or who wanted to be here and she was unsettled about it.

She noticed the number of odd looks she was getting from just about everyone in the room, she was wearing Intel black and wore three pips on her collar instead of command red and four pips but other then that she looked identical to the other Torilla. So long as they left her alone, she was content to sit here and eat her lunch, she had nowhere she needed to be and nothing she needed to do.

At times she felt like this was a dream and Plataea had to remind herself that this was anything but a fantasy. She had started going by her middle name since yesterday afternoon since the other Torilla Unal who was native to this reality had first claim to her name and Plataea wanted to be able to co-exist with her twin.

Plataea drained a mouthful from her drink before she set it back down on the table before her before she let out a sigh, her thoughts turning to her three children who by providence had come with her and now with her monster of a husband dead, and his sister before him also dead, this left Talon who had been lost in another universe almost a year ago, other then that everyone else in the Yamaguchi line was dead. Now she was seeing all of them alive even Heather who had been raped and murdered while at the academy.

Rachael Yamaguchi had even died a hero, rather then as a fallen figure from a prominent family, someone who had fallen victim to her own corruption. For Plataea, she found this good and that Rachael here was a name she could honor rather then shun.

"I want... water," Zara spoke to the barkeep as she plopped down on a stool by the bar.

Duval came over. "You want.... water?" he inquired dubiously. "I think a friend wants to say Hello." as a tall but slender woman sat down next to Zara. "Barkeep. A pint of your finest Halanan please."

Plataea smiled as she turned to Zara. "Hello.." she greeted the smaller woman. "Get this one a small glass of Orion whisky, on me."

"Thank you," Zara spoke with a bit of confusion. "I did not think to see you here much."

Plataea regarded Zara, a gentle look in her deep brown eyes. "Sir. How do I explain?" she paused as Duval came over. "Sock it to her Plataea. Zara's plenty strong... she can take it."

Plataea smiled. "Zara.... I'm wearing intel black and the rank of Commander for a reason." she explained. "What do you know of me?" she inquired before she stopped talking.

The doors to the lounge opened and in walked Lieutenant Gabriel Yamaguchi, he looked around as he spotted his mothers twin, before moving towards her.

Plataea regarded him in silence. "You know me?"

"I know who you appear to be.... but you ... you can't be her." Gabriel responded.

"I am not her." Plataea explained softly. "I'm not your mother...."

Gabriel did not look impressed. "For an impostor... You do a hell of a job looking like her."

"I am your mother... But I am from another reality... a darker one from this place." Plataea explained.

"I'd best sit down..." Gabriel explained as he nodded to Duval who came over. "What can I get you El Tee?"

"Two slices of Pizza please with a glass of soda, the pizza.... Can you make both slices triple meat?"

"Yeah, consider it done." Duval responded evenly, he turned away to fill the order.

Gabriel regarded the woman who looked every bit his mother. "You.... you look just like her."

"I get that often.." Plataea smiled. "I answer to the name of Plataea... and you can call me by name... I won't be offended..." she paused. "But who are you?"

"Oh... My name is Gabriel.. Torilla's second child. Elizabeth is her eldest... She mentioned you to me... and to the others."

"I did not doubt that she would... She was terrified of me when she and I met..." Plataea explained. "I don't know why, I had done nothing to her."

"...I am soo confused," Zara sighed in frustration.

Plataea regarded the smaller woman with a soft smile. "Why is that?" she inquired of the smaller Trill.

"Because your whole family is already complicated - keeping the new ones straight is only going to make it worse," Zara huffed.

Unal waved the comment away. "Don't worry about it." she responded with a smile. "I am me... I am not Torilla. Why... have you bedded her?"

Gabriel simply smiled.

"Something like that," Zara spoke, a pain in her voice. Tori was her friend and lover. It was complicated and ever more so when her friend green-lit Cressa's hypnosis program upon her.

Plataea almost grinned. "Well... I can't say much about that.." she responded as she regarded the man who would have been her son had fates played out differently in her home reality. "Besides.. " she regarded Zara. "I am not her.. I just look like her."

"...Yeah." Zara shifted uncomfortably, then downed her glass before she stood up.

Her heart began to race and she was a bit clammy. The onset of a panic attack, Zara knew. From the memories of various things that had happened to her over the last four months.

"I gotta go," Zara spoke quickly and made to walk very fast out the room.

Plataea went to protest as Gabriel stopped her. "No... Leave her be... She's been through a lot over the last few months... " Gabriel said. "Don't worry... Its not your fault... but Mom was directly involved with that mess.."

Duval returned moments later with the Lieutenant's lunch. "Where did the skipper go?"

"She had to leave... apparently I made her uncomfortable." Plataea explained quietly. "Apparently I scare her."

"You aren't responsible..." Duval responded. "Can I get you something?"

"Y'know... Yeah.. Get me what he's having.." she responded.

"On it." and with that he turned away as Plataea regarded Gabriel. "You don't fear me the way your sisters do."

"My sisters are... well my sisters... I try to be pragmatic and patient, like my dad.." Gabe explained evenly as her food arrived moments later.

Plataea smiled as she received her dinner order. "Ahh thanks." she paused. "I hope... we ummm can be friends?"

"Why wouldn't we be?" Gabriel asked. "You've given me no reason to question you."

"Considering what happened between me and your dad..." Plataea commented with a sigh.

"Thats between you and dad to sort out for yourselves. I will not get involved." Gabriel smiled. "I got my own problems.."

"Children?"

"Three, two girls and a boy." Gabriel responded. "Savannah is wanting at least one more... I'm trying to get her to wait a little while."

"Fair enough." Plataea responded with a smile. "Enjoy this time... it'll never come again... and you'll never get time off for years after this.."

"Oh I know.." Gabriel responded with a smile.
