I Don't do Dress up

Mission: Mission 45: Dust and Echoes
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1700Hrs - November 1st 2391

Teval sighed and gave up, he clearly wasn't going to be getting much done, as Silversnow now was lying on his computer keyboard. Teval sighed while Sliversnow looked up at him and meowed loudly. Making no attempt to move, her Teval simply petted the large Maine coon, whom responded with a purr.

Coming form the other room, and carrying firehawk, Nuyari came over to Teval, and sat next to him, and he responded by giving her a hug. hakaya, whom was on the opposite couch commented," Well, now everyone wants your attention now huh."

Teval nodded, "Yeah, I noticed."

Karryn, whom was getting her fur brushed by Aerin, added, "at least its not the unwanted attention with random strangers wanting to pick you up."

Hakaya just rolled her eyes at the comment.

Outside Commander Tom Lasky thought he'd drop by and pay his skipper a visit as he tapped the doorchime.

Teval looked at the door," Come in."

The door opened and in walked Lasky. "Evenin' guys."

Teval looked back at sliversnow, whom was purring happily, "Oh not too much, I think she is trying to say something to me."

"Sounds like kitty needs attention.." Lasky responded. "So... you going to the ball in a week or so?"

Teval gave silversnow a rub," Well, I don't know, I'm not really familiar with them."

"Well you don't need to go as anything... its a party,... you just show up as yourself."

Hakaya sighed," well, that's nice, because I sure as hell am not wearing some random costume."

"Its optional. Well in your case I'd say its not going to happen... but going to the event will help you get to know the crew... I expect at least half the ship to turn out." Lasky shrugged. "Of course. You don't have to go if you don't want to."

"That's true," Zara added as she snuck in and hugged Lasky from behind.

Lasky wasn't expecting the hug and it showed, he jumped. "Gah... Oh... Zara.." he sighed.

"You still should go, if only to see and talk to folks you haven't gotten to meet," Zara suggested gently.

Teval didn't really have a comment, he simply petted the purring Silversnow.

Lasky nodded his head. "Oh I'm definitely going. Show the crew that the Ex Oh is something other then Fives the walking nutjob they have no doubt heard about." he smiled. "I have a child incoming.."

Teval sighed still unsure, he then looked down at silversnow, saying," Well silver, what do you think, think I should go."

Silversnow gave Teval a loud meow, and before he could say anything else, Karryn gave Teval a hug, nearly knocking him off the chair, adding, " Well, I think you should give it a try."

Teval looked up at Lasky saying. "Well I guess I can give it a try."

"You don't have to dress up... but you should go, show the crew that you are present and approachable. No need to go looking for trouble when none exists."

Teval gave silversnow a pat. "Well, you couldn't get me to dress up in a costume anyway."

"That would be a tall order for any Akurian," Karryn added.

"Well... I don't think you guys could dress up.... I mean what would you dress up as?" Lasky inquired. "I can't think of anything that would work.." he shrugged. "Besides, you guys will have a good time.. Besides. We don't get to throw a party all that often."

"What are the chances that it will turn into a massive trainwreck, like anything else that happens on this ship," Hakaya commented.

Lasky raised an eyebrow. "That's possible... but that can happen anywhere at any time." Lasky responded. "Besides.. Roanoke isn't the unwanted stepchild of the fleet anymore. No... Argonne has taken that role for the foreseeable future."

Teval shook his head. "No I don't think Roanoke's reputation is going to be shaken that easily. if anything it will simply expand to the whole battlegroup."

"Oh... Probably." Lasky responded. "But... Lets leave that for the individual ship commanders to deal with on their own terms." he added.

"I just hope they don't send us any more Bremers," Zara groaned.

Teval looked at his roster. "No his family has been just about cleaned out, but there are others of his kind to worry about."

Lasky almost grinned. "Well.. We still have the Bastard of Bremer... gods I hate that fuck.." he explained. "Tom Jackson is supposed to be dealing with him... I think...."
