Saki Yamaguchi regarded her grandmother who was looking more and more miserable as time went by. "Whats wrong Grandma Torilla?" Saki inquired as she gave her grand, other a hug, something that surprised the older woman before she gently returned it with one of her own. "Its... Well things aren't going well sweetie."

"Oh... why?" Saki inquired as only a nine year old could.

"Remember the hanger deck fire...?"

"I do... I felt surges of... pain, terror... surprise... death.." Saki
hear tears in her eyes as she admitted what she knew.

Torilla knew her granddaughter was in many ways just as powerful as he daughter. "I'm so sorry baby.." Torilla answered. "I remember when Rachael experienced it for the first time. She described it as one of the most powerful events in her life... and now... you have the same.."

"I.. I don't understand." Saki admitted softly.

"You are special Saki... You're mother has unusual abilities... which she got from me." Torilla explained. "If you are willing... I will teach you how to use them properly..."

"I keep hearing things... like someone is speaking but to me.."

Torilla nodded. "I know.. Your mother had that issue when she was your age." she explained with a smile. "I will teach you how to use your abilities until your mother comes home... then she will need to take over." Torilla sighed. "Because I'll be leaving."

"What!" Saki sounded shocked. "Why?"

"That's the nature of life in Starfleet my dear... Its what I signed on for... and I have been blessed to have my family close by... everyone in one place for the first time in several years.. not since Elizabeth and Gabriel went off to the academy... Eight years ago..."

"Thats... before I was born."

"Saki... You must understand that from my point of view... you were not supposed to be born for another two months... and Rachael should still be fourteen years old.." Torilla explained gently. "That dammed temporal anomaly aged her so fast and we missed so much... Now she's almost the same age as her siblings.."

Saki regarded her grandmother. "And you missed so much with... me too?"

"I did... But don't think that's your fault sweetie. Because its not..." Torilla explained. "I'm a grandmother at age forty and I'll definitely be a great grandmother by age sixty.."

Saki raised an eyebrow. "Mom mentioned that its the every duty of every Halanan to have as many children as possible.."

"Not anymore sweetie.." Torilla responded. "I have Nix and Tressa to look after, Gabriel has Nicole and Arlene and Elizabeth is pregnant with... my sixth child."

Saki nodded her head before the door opened and in walked Jake followed by Elizabeth as Saki hopped off the counter and went to greet them. Elizabeth smiled as she was happy to see her niece. "Hey Saki... You keeping mom company.?"

"Yes... Well she's been keeping me company." Saki explained.

Jake regarded Torilla. "You babysitting Saki?"

"No, I'm babysitting Grandma Torilla." Saki responded as Torilla mearly smiled, while she gave her husband a bemused expression. "Yes.. she's been looking after me.... Its strange having someone wait on me, hand and foot."
