Posted on Sat Feb 29th, 2020 @ 3:16am by Commander Jiao Anderson-Smithson & Post Captain Vasily Borodin

Mission: Mission 32: Tales of Tarod
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1400Hrs - May 2nd, 2391

Commander Vasily Borodin had his meager belongings in the tote bag slung over his shoulder, he looked around as he took in the sights of the hanger in question, some guys liked to polish their hanger floors as a punishment detail but this ship had a dull sheen so nobody was out here shining the decking, a smile appeared on his face as he went to find an officer to report to.

He was here as Chief Intelligence Officer apparently replacing a man named Drake who didn't last a week here, apparently it was something in the air that made him lose his mind.

Last he heard about Drake, he was a hall monitor and he was teaching cadets which as far as Borodin was concerned was better then the man deserved, one did not live long by being a hothead. "Drake... your an Idiot.. you always were" he muttered.

Borodin mentally recalled what he knew about the ship and her crew, Captain Zara Tane had a reputation as did some others but that wasn't a big bother to him.

Hakaya looked down at the hangar from the Tower, noticing the new officer exiting the runabout. "who is that."

"Teval looked down at the new person. Unable to effectively make him about, he commented," No idea, guess he is new."

Teval then exited the tower with Hakaya and approached the new comer. As he got closer he could make out the black collar and the commander rank. Still out of earshot Hakaya commented, "Why is an intel commander being sent here."

Teval shrugged," Probably here to investigate romulan activity or something."

Approaching the newcomer, Teval commented, " Well, what brings you to the roanoke, hunting Tal Shiar, or did you bed the wrong persons wife."

Borodin looked down at the two unusual looking officers before him. "Well.. I'm actually here on vacation. My previous assignment was on the USS Canterbury and apparently someone in Starfleet Intelligence thinks you might have a Romulan mole aboard ship... so I'm going to flush him out... and then flush him out the nearest airlock.." he paused. "Did I say that aloud?"

Teval just shrugged, then asked, "So what does bring you to the ship of the damned anyway."

"I am Commander Vasily Borodin, the Roanoke's new Intelligence Chief Officer." He told Teval. "Apparently someone thought you needed someone better then that old hothead Drake... How the hell he's still alive is beyond me... but you guys survived him."

Teval raised an eyebrow, then replied, "No you got it backwards, he somehow survived us. If only barely."

"Mmm... Well I never liked that overweight glob of grease anyway." Borodin responded. "So... what post do you two occupy on this... ship?" the Russian inquired.

Teval answered simply, "Well, I'm the ships airboss. Hakaya, my sister, is also the assistant Airboss."

"Ahh.." Borodin responded. "Well.. I should go and report in, I wouldn't want to keep Captain Tane wondering where I've gotten off to... now would I?" he inquired. "It was good meeting someone with a sense of humor... makes a nice change."

Teval shook his head," Just be careful of the amount of 'nice changes' that you will find on this ship, because there are a lot of them."

"Fair enough Commander. Thank you for your time." he paused. "Dasvidanya." and with that he turned and went off to see the quartermaster.

Teval watched as Borodin left, he then noticed four more people come out of the runabout. From what He could tell, they where a feline or a canine species of some kind, though he wasn't sure which, as they seemed to have both feline and canine features. They didn't wear clothing, much like himself, and the largest one wore a Lieutenant commander's rank badge. Teval walked over to the Lieutenant commander, whom looked no more than 10 to 12 centimeters taller than himself, and asked," Well commander, welcome to the roanoke, I am commander Teval Vakar, ships Airboss.

Rykar Julani looked down at the smaller feline, whom just introduced himself, and replied, "I'm Lt. commander Rykar Julani, I've been assigned as ops officer." She then handed him her orders.

Teval took the padd and gave it the once over, then said," Well, I don't think I have ever seen your species before, so tell me, whom did you piss off to end up on the ship of the damned."

Rykar's fur started to stand up on end. She had heard of the roanoke, and she didn't like her situation one bit, but the maintained a calm demeanor and stated simply, " An Admiral Nechayev, didn't like it when I was honest to her, so she sent me to this garbage scow."

Teval could instantly tell that Rykar was in a bad mood, and that she would be different from the others, so he said simply, and honestly," Well, we are all here because we slighted someone in the past, and honestly if I had my way, I would make Nechayev disappear in a painful manner myself, but that's just me. Either way, her name is a pariah on this ship."

Rykar didn't quite expect that answer from Teval, and she didn't really know what to make of it yet. In a way, she appreciated his honesty, but at the same time, something about it didn't sit right with her. So she simply got to the point," Well, either way, I need to get my family settled in, is the Captain in."

Teval shrugged," She should be. Though I warn you, she might be high on klingon cigar's, that's what happened when i first me her.

Rykar almost let of a low, agitated growl," Thanks for the warning." She then took her mate and her two children off the flight deck to go get their assigned quarters.

He went into the Quartermasters offices and he found himself face to face with a woman who looked oddly like his wife. "Lieutenant, I am Vasily Borodin, I have come for my room assignment?"

"Ahh... Welcome to purgatory." Jiao Anderson commented with a smile as she handed him a PADD. "Here you go, deck four, section eleven."

"Thank you." and with that he turned and departed, he went to his new home and dropped off his gear, then he went to the replicator before ordering himself a glass of water.

Rykar then walked into the office next, and said to Jiao Anderson, Lieutenant, I'm commander Rykar Julani, I need a family quarters assignment."

Jiao Anderson nodded her head. "Welcome aboard Commander." as she selected one of a half dozen remaining slots. "Deck six, section nine." she handed the smaller being a PADD. "There you go."

Rykar took the PADD and didn't say anything further as she walked out.

Borodin drained his glass before he departed and went off to his next stop.

He reached his destination as he tapped the door chime, he looked down as he gave himself the once over, he was wearing a large heavy bomber jacket rather than the standard uniform jacket while he waited.

"It's open," Zara called in one of her more sober moods. She was busy going on repair request from the colony.

The door opened and in walked Borodin. "Keptin." he greeted her, his russian accent coming out.

"...Can I help you?" Zara asked as she took the man in.

"Kommander Vasily Borodin, reporting for duty Keptin." he pronounced his name as 'Vas'Ely' as he regarded her. "I heard you like to have a few drinks.... so I brought you something..." and with that he slipped a hand into his jacket and he produced a bottle of Russian Vodka.

"I'm not entirely impressed, since the whole fleet knows of my recreational activities," Zara admitted with a grin, "but I do like the choice of booze."

"I prefer to keep things simple, no complications... after all isn't life enough trouble most days?" Borodin inquired. "I am to serve as your new Chief Intelligence Officer."

"Good... we lack in common since a lot on this boat," Zara agreed.

Rykar walked into the bridge, and without saying a word to anyone else, she walked over to the door and hit the door chime.

"Ah... Another guest," Zara smiled and looked to the door. "Open!"

Rykar opened the door, wanting to make the process quick, she then introduced herself. "Captain, I am Lieutenant Commander Rykar Julani, and I am reporting as the chief ops officer."

"Ah. Good. Chief Ops and Chief Smart Person," Zara spoke happily. "I assume you're both smart people. I hope so because this ship is generally cursed in that department."

Borodin raised an eyebrow. "Well it could be worse." he commented. "We could be surrounded by retards and imbeciles." he shrugged. "Someday I will explain the meaning of Soviet Irony.." he then smiled.

Rykar replied in a sour mood, "I know the track record of this ship, and the fact much of its crew is cowards and imbeciles."

"We have oblivious, incompetents, malcontents, and psychopaths. Not really a lot of cowards," Zara spoke honestly.

Rykar let of an annoyed growl, "Still bad enough, all because that greased pig of an admiral couldn't handle a little honesty."

"Most don't," Zara agreed dryly. "Why do you think I got this assignment and not a shiny new Luna or Sovvy?"

Rykar didn't immediately respond, she just sighed in annoyance. She then finally asked, "So which worthless admiral did you piss off."

"I might of told Nechayev she needed an enema when she was picking on a young ensign that had a grease stain on her uniform," Zara spoke as she scratched the back of her neck nervously.

Ryker's fur stood on end as she heard the name. "That woman," she growled."

Borodin raised an eyebrow but instead, chose to say, "Mind if I help myself to the replicator?" he inquired. "I need a drink... whenever that woman's name is mentioned... I find I need a drink."

"Help yourself," Zara shrugged. "I prefer people to be comfortable in this room."

Borodin raised an eyebrow as he reached over and selected a bottle of booze. "Mmm... Aldebaran Whisky.." before he pulled the top off and drained a mouthful. "Twenty Three Oh Six."

"I'm just glad to have competent folks on my staff," Zara relaxed with a sigh.

Rykar then asked, "Is there anything else you need of me."

"Not that I can think of," Zara answered honestly.

Without any further hesitation, Rykar left the room.

"I'm starting to love this ship," Zara spoke with a big grin on her face.

Borodin drained his glass. "Well what can I say..." he then shrugged. "We all have our crosses to bear... and our hobbies that we enjoy."

"Nice meeting you, all the same," Zara continued to smile. She would have to thank April at some point for sending more good people her way.

Borodin proceeded to clean out the glass. "I hear you are insane... and a miscreant." he shrugged. "I miss my wife and children but.. I think I can be of use here..."
