Posted on Fri Feb 28th, 2020 @ 4:01pm by Commander Jiao Anderson-Smithson & Lieutenant JG Rachael "Ripcord" Yamaguchi-Cullen

Mission: Mission 31: The Ashes of Eden
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - March 28th, 2391

Cadet Rachael Yamaguchi regarded the weathered urn next to her right foot as she gently ran her fingers over the lid which had been sealed tight to prevent the most precious of cargo's concealed within from escaping.

Rachael would not insult her friend's memory so as she tapped the display before her, she was a woman on a mission. "Computer. pull up file of Petty Officer Saki Kishimoto." her voice broke as she made the request.

Saki's file came up as Rachael isolated the section she wanted, the USS North Star, she then tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to the bridge?"

"Anderson here. Whats up sweetie?"

"I need you to contact the USS North Star for me, I need to speak with her Captain.... make it as secure and personal... I have... sad news for him."

"Understood..." Jiao's response came back.

Rachael nodded as she tapped the display. "Thank you Jiao..."

Moments later, a face of a Starfleet officer who'm she didn't know appeared on the screen before her. "Captain Kishimoto." she bowed to him as Saki had explained. "I have ..." she paused a moment. "Bad news... Saki has died..." she paused a second time to pull herself together. "I promise a full report as I return her remain's to you.... We were stranded on a planet for eight years and .... she died to a jungle predator." Rachael explained. "Saki asked Lt Commander Dvald and I to follow her customs to the letter... this we did... and I was able to save her ashes.."

The man just tilted his head a little to the side and then looked at the young woman with cold icy eyes that seem to pierce through the screen. "Understood." Was all he said then he looked at something off the the right side of the screen then back at it, waiting for the young girl to continue.

"I'd like your permission to return her ashes to you in person..."

"How soon could you leave to meet with us?" Was all he asked, he seemed to be very cold but there was also a slight softness to his voice.

"I can depart where I am now and be at North Star's location ... IN two days..." Rachael paused. "Where would you be at that time sir?" she inquired, in a respectful tone.

"Currently we are in orbit around Vega. We can remain here for at least a week so there is no hurry to get here." He responded in a even tone. "Also if you would when you do get here I would like to speak to you in further about the details of her demise, however I'm sure that she had made the decision on here own I would still like to know what happened. I understand you said that you would have a report of me but I rather not read it in some damn paperwork."

"I understand..." Rachael responded. "I will write it out for you as a formal report but I will still explain what happened." Rachael explained.

He nodded, "very well I'll see you when you arrive. Do I need to contact your captain to explain the reason for your departure or do you think you can handle that?"

"No. I will handle that." Rachael responded evenly. "I will see you in two days sir." she responded.

He reached forward and disconnected the communication and leaned back in his chair, looking back at the picture that sat to the right of his desk he sighed. "Well kid I hope at least you went out with a fight." Getting up he put a brazier of incense out next to the picture and lit it, bowing his head he offered a small prayer and then went back to the terminal to contact his wife back on earth to give her then news.
