Posted on Thu Feb 27th, 2020 @ 1:06pm by Lieutenant Commander Meslina Amakawa

Mission: Mission 19: Taking out the Garbage
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1530Hrs - December 24th, 2390

Zara had sat in her ready room, finally glad to of been cleared of that monkey-brained hell she was in. Bad luck, really was why she had yet to actually sit down with Meslina. She knew little about her in personality, so she was eager to get to know this woman.

With a glass of lemon-brisked tea, Zara sat in her office chair and ran through the various quartermaster forms ready to go out.

Meslina came up to the door and pressed the button to enter, as soon as the door open she stepped inside and saw the captain seemingly relaxed while drinking some type of yellowish-brown liquid. "Greetings Captain, I'm Lt. Meslina Amakawa it's finally nice to meet you other than in passing." She said while sounding still formal.

"It is," Tane agreed. "Have a seat and tell me about yourself."

Meslina looked at the chair that was offered and nodded, "very well so where should I start? It's obvious where I hail from though," she said with a little laugh considering that the Captain also was a Trill.

"Spots do give you away, yes," Zara smiled. "More or less just want to get to know you. Seems every time I had you on the books, one of these bafoons did something to me."

"Indeed, I am sure everyone on this ship already knows about your little run in with Liz Yamaguchi by now. And the last time I saw you face to face was on the holodeck during the sex slave program, sorry I had to leave that place because I would've killed that bastard if I continued." Meslina's face turned a hew of red before she was able to regain some composure again.

"Well that being said a little about myself, hmm. Well as my records have stated I used to be in Tactical and Strategic Operations mainly my job while in that field was relief efforts and providing tactical support for planetary and ship-board defenses. I was station on a starbase for a very short time, but now command feels that I would 'fit in better' here, though no offense I don't see how they came up with that decision." Meslina stated with all honesty, she didn't care if the universe thought that she was useless she would prove to it that she can work anywhere and try to make the best of it regardless.

"This ship can be great, if we come together, I think." Zara agreed and drank some of her drink. "Good news is that in this batch of new arrivals, I've gotten some great DHs. Including you. And as Ops Chief, I will depend on you greatly in keeping this mad house properly powered and stocked."

"Of course that goes without saying, though it's going to be a hard job with all the craziness that's been happening so far. However you can count on me when I say that I will be putting forth my best effort to make sure that everything will be operational for when you need it." Meslina added the last part to make sure that the Captain would be able to count on her, though she doubted that there would be any issues with her and the Captain she didn't want to be off on a bad foot with her either.

"I'll see about getting you some time in one of the Del-Flys, when the air wing does some recon missions," Zara promised. "Would be good to have some intel assets."

"I haven't flown one in quite some time so I may want to log some time on the holodeck before you throw me out there." Meslina stood up and walked over to the replicator, "may I?"

Zara nodded to the replicator.

She ordered herself some coffee and sat back down, "sorry I've been up for a while now doing some stuff that needed to be done."

"I meant you'd be one of the crew on the Del-Flys. The air group typically picks the pilots, but I can ask the CAG if you'd like some stick time," Zara offered.

Sipping at her coffee she looked back up at the captain, "I'd like that but I don't mind being there as a Tactical officer either. I mean it is what I do now and I have to use my skills somewhat otherwise I'll get rusty, and I think it would be a good idea too to get to know some of the other people onboard as well. I only know Torilla, Racheal, Tienn, and now you. So if you don't mind me asking but why is this ship known as the barge of the damned, it's been bugging me slightly. I've gathered some idea of why but it can't be that bad really otherwise Starfleet command wouldn't trust us at all." Meslina asked.

"It's a last chance posting for most of the people here," Zara answered with annoyance. "So HQ sends the idiots, malcontents, anti-social, and someones people with all of those problems in one. And they put them here. The smaller population on this ship are fillers. People who just drew the short straws in order to fill in the missing personnel gaps."

Meslina nods in understanding, "so basically myself and some other unfortunate souls." She sighs. "Well none the less thank you for having me anyways, I'll try my best not to disappoint you."

"Well, for the moment? The only worry in your department, is what will happen if Phoenix and the Cardassian cross paths again," Zara spoke with a grim face. "Not really anything you can disappoint me with, really. Though I would try to make sure she doesn't get assigned to the pod again."

"I can understand considering what happened last time they crossed paths. But I can't keep them apart all the time they will have to work together if this ship is put into danger whither or not they like it." Meslina stated, even though she did agree with the Captain on that point.

Zara nodded in full agreement. She doubted Phoenix would ever warm to the Cardassian completely though. "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about?"

Meslina thought for a moment, "nothing else comes to mind however I must say it's nice not being the only Trill on board."

"I think I have to agree on that as well," Zara smiled brightly.
