| General Overview | Orthos has a rather laid back personality and is always ready with a world-weary bon-mot of a joke or a word of encouragement for support. He's always the first in and the last out, wanting to do whatever it takes for his brothers and sisters. He's generally got a good work ethic and is easy to coexist with. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: Likeable, easy to get on with and easy to co-exist with, on duty he'll work long hours and will often take meal breaks at his post, he has no problems staying focused until someone mentions his now dead wife. He also likes to remain focused on his work while at work. He's a new father so one can expect him to want to spend time with his son, it motivates him to be a better person. Weaknesses: When off duty he generally prefers to be left alone. He's a private man who's grief left him somewhat unable to get along with crowds. He's a quiet guy and has often been thought of as not caring about anyone or anything, he has not gone out of his way to cure these rumors. Also, he doesn't tolerate glory seeking or macho chest thumping by anyone. He can become distracted when his young children are the subject of conversation. |

| Personal History | Steven McKnight was born in 2325, as the second youngest child of James and T'Sara McKnight, while his parents were unusual in that he was human and she was Vulcan, he was as much loved as his elder siblings were, they all grew up happy on various assignments and Starbase's throughout the thirties and forties until he decided he wanted to join Starfleet. One of his brothers and one of his sisters would follow him into Starfleet. All of his other siblings save one all detested Starfleet life because it separated their parents for far too long but the family felt that someone should step up so Steven decided that he would. His younger brother, Daniel followed him into Starfleet. Steven applied to Starfleet Academy only to find his scores weren't good enough, he spent weeks on the application and in a fit of anger he decided he would enlist instead rather than spend months working on education when he decided he had spent enough time on it. On his first assignment, Orthos met a woman named Vanessa Van Zandi and the two began dating after being assigned to the same assignment. They ended up getting married within a year and welcomed their first child. Iason about two months later. The two developed a happy and stable family life for their other children who followed in quick succession and while he and Vanessa worked their way up the ranks, it was assumed that he would follow her to her assignments, once she gained her own command and he was a Chief Petty officer but all of this changed with the encounter with the Borg in early 2365. He realized that everything he had been taught was now meaningless so he decided to apply himself to the arts of war rather than the arts of surrender as he called them, it was also about this time that they welcomed children four and five into their lives. Suddenly thankful that he and his wife, Vanessa had the foresight to leave the kids with his mother on Starbase 54 before shipping out on the USS Kyushu for him and the USS Crazy Horse for her, the fleet met the Borg and fell in battle before them in the Wolf system. He was assigned to the USS Kyushu as her assistant Chief Engineer by the time that Wolf 359 took place, he was in engineering when the ship was destroyed around him. but what was worse was that Vanessa was killed in action. For the children, losing their mother at the hands of the Borg was downright devastating but for Orthos, it was crippling. He had spent almost twenty years being in a relationship with his first wife and the loss for him was something he would never recover from, he went back to the academy for training when he met a woman named Talon Yamaguchi while on an exercise on Mars. While on this exercise. Orthos went through the Pon Far and Talon assisted him with his efforts, she found herself becoming pregnant so she found herself unsure of what to do, Orthos gently took her by the hand and assisted her with the various efforts as he had been in this position and situation several times before. Talon and Orthos shared raising this child after Orthos reminded Talon that he was going to be a responsible father, citing his considerable experiance on the subject. Talon also got to meet Orthos's other children, many of them were teenagers and young children who regarded Talon with intrest. Talon found herself agreeing to his terms but she suprised both of them when she said she wished to get to know Orthos better. Orthos agreed as the two had Melody. Once Talon's siblings learned of the relationship, they all fell into line behind Talon and so Orthos and Talon began dating and keeping their relationship quiet as there was a large age gap of almost twenty five years between them. Their relationship very quickly turned serious and within a year of her giving birth to Melody, they were married and expecting child number two, a second girl they named Minerva and within another year, a third child, named Neville. The McKnights eventually rounded out their family with a third girl that they named Andromeda. Orthos's older children accepted Talon as their step-mom easily as she was intimdated with the small army of children present. However she made sure that they knew she welcomed their attention and affection. They in turn assisted Talon with her own children. This was a great source of help to Talon as she could focus on her schooling as needed. Orthos also assised as he ensured his oher children were involved in raising their new siblings. This allowed Orthos, his children and his new wife to bond together. Talon graduated the academy in early 2370 and with the threat of wartime hanging over the heads of everyone in the Federation, whether or not they were in Starfleet began to gnaw at Talon as she was assigned to the USS Lexington, an older Galaxy class starship set up for the carrier role. Talon McKnight as she was now called, was here for the better part of four years before she went over to the Essex, a brand new Sovereign class ship, where McKnight would face the first half of the Dominion war, up to the battle of Chin'Toka, where Essex was cripled. The other ship she served on in the Dominion War was the USS Defiance, an Akira Class. By the time the war ended, McKnight had gone from a green recruit to a seasoned veteran with a half dozen medals to her credit and a department head posting along with a great deal of respect and acclaim to her name. However she was also an angry woman, she missed her husband and her babies, some were now old enough to join Starfleet. McKnight remained on the USS Defiance as Executive officer until 2382 when she was offered command of the USS Pathfinder, newly refitted to 'Two' Specifications, she accepted and so Talon test the new mark two upgrades to the class leader, she was the commanding officer at the time and for her it was one of the most challenging assignments she would yet have, as something was always happening, also something always broke at the worst times. What helped her was that Rear Admiral Paul Antilles had taken notice of her. Talon quickly found herself becoming one of his most prized CO's for her work ethic and her dedication but for Paul, it was her devotionm to her family that caught his attention as he too, was a family man. However McKnight did not enjoy the assignment as commander of the Pathfinder. To make matters even worse was that her husband and children went with her, after a few months it was becoming obvious that McKnight was having issues commanding a ship in the field as she couldn't seperate work from play, her family from the rest of her crew and so she requested reassignment to a Starbase. McKnight was instead offered a promotion to Commodore and command of Starbase 45, an Ournal II Class Starbase which would be a massive job and it was one she accepted with relish. At first, she had two frigates and a light cruiser assigned to her base but it was a few months later the USS Fe'garren would reinforce her. McKnight remained in command of Starbase 45 for almost eight years and it was here where she settled down roots with her husband when she adopted a human-looking alien named Noel when she was just an infant, Talon also gave birth to another child which she and her husband had named Julian for a family friend who had died saving Andromeda from being raped while at the academy but had died in the process. Andromeda asked her mother to name her newest child after her boyfriend. Talon and Orthos both agreed. The pregnancy and birth of Julian was a suprise to Talon as she had not been expecting to become pregant with any more children. Orthos did not object and he reminded his wife that he would assist her with this endeavor, like they had all their previous ones. Talon had also forgotten that little promise he had made on their wedding night that he would follow her on all her assignments and he would not waver now. In early 2392, McKnight was offered the posting of commanding officer of Starbase Lya Station Alpha and she accepted, her two youngest children and her husband went with her without question, concern or comment. |
